Unaccompanied minors have arrived!

LIttle UMS! How happy I was to see them after a trying drive to Lisbon! I kept thinking of what the Masai said to me in Tanzania when we discussed the book the White Masai (the Swiss woman who married a Masai, then took off with the kid never to bring her back to her father) . He said: my blood! my blood! And there with their big smiles and skinny legs was mine. I handed a drivers license that said Eleanor Wehlen, when my brother had told them Ellie Brigham would pick them up..but it was no problem...blood is blood. They belonged to me.
Straight to the house where Kate showed us how to do a proper no holes barred, no chickening out belly flop. (see below), Then the kiddies ate their weight in clams, and danced under the sunset.
They seem really happy to be here. Kate is a little worried about missing her parents...and Hanna told us a story at dinner about how K told her mother to "spank her before she got on the plane" so she would not cry. And we laughed so hard at this Katism....that Thomas hugged her for a long time (see below). They are a salve for the soul. Tomorrow we will eat more cake, swim in the sea, and race go carts around a dangerous Portuguese track without waivers. We are ready.
